The People’s University Project presents

Cinema &
Struggle

Film screenings and political discussion, organized by the People’s University Project.

Cinema & Struggle committee recruitment poster: choose films and create discussion questions. Contact links and committee tasks are provided below.

Why we meet

Community & culture

A regular space to meet one another and enjoy films collectively, building relationships and a culture of discussion outside formal political spaces.

Political discussion

Different interpretations, disagreements and political questions are part of the discussion. Talking them through can help us sharpen our ideas and learn from one another.

A wider audience

Films people want to see, affordable tickets and a welcoming atmosphere can bring people together whether or not they are already politically involved.

Get involved in the committee

Interested in cinema and political discussion? Help shape what we watch and how we discuss it.

The committee’s tasks are tentative and can develop with the group.

  • Curating discussion questions.
  • Promoting the events.
  • Creating graphics and posters.
  • Working with the People’s University committee to assess the direction of the events.
Other suggested ways to contribute
  • Write and publish reviews or screening notes reflecting on the discussion, including attendees’ responses and memorable quotes.
  • Make playbill-style handouts with film production details, information about the director, and spoiler-free themes and discussion questions.
